Dress Down to Raise More Day FAQ

Answers to some of your questions.

What is Dress Down Day?

On a Dress Down Day, schools and businesses allow their students, faculty, and employees to "dress down" in return for a small charitable contribution. Dress Down Days might also be referred to as "Denim Days".

How are funds raised?

Funds are raised when students, faculty, and employees contribute a specific amount of money for the privilege of dressing down. While the amounts may vary, the usual donation is around $5 for employees; student donations are $1-$2.

Who conducts the event?

Any individual within a school or company can organize a Dress Down Day. He or she should work with a representative from Transplant Foundation and with a member of their Accounting or HR office (if applicable).

How does it work?

Once the school or business agrees to conduct the Dress Down Day and a coordinator is appointed, materials will be provided for distribution. These materials may include:

  • Announcement flyer
  • Informational brochures about the charitable organization (in this case, Transplant Foundation)
  • Article in school newsletter or newspaper
  • Transplant Foundation green ribbon pins or bracelets for distribution on Dress Down Day

Then what?

The first thing that should be done is to have the Coordinator distribute an official announcement. Included in this announcement should be a brief paragraph about Transplant Foundation, the name and contact information of the coordinator, and any additional information necessary.

Reminder flyers should be posted around the school/business the week prior to the arranged date for Dress Down Day.

What happens the day of?

As people enter the building, the coordinator will be set up with a table, donation envelopes, and information about Transplant Foundation. If possible, a green ribbon pin or bracelet should be made available to all participants. The coordinator may want to take group photos.

What do we do with the donations?

At the end of the day, the coordinator should convert cash into a school/company check or money order, and along with personal donations, mail to.
