Third Annual Golf Tournament Raised $65,000 for Transplant Foundation

Proceeds generated from event assist Foundation’s mission

Fort Lauderdale, FL.—As individuals prepared to get ready for work on Monday, May 5th, avid Florida golf enthusiasts shined their clubs to hit the links in attendance for the 3rd Annual Broward/Palm Beach Golf Classic hosted by the Transplant Foundation at the Coral Ridge Country Club.

“In what was a very hot, but lively turnout, this year’s tournament generated over $65,000.  Proceeds raised from this tournament support the Foundation and the Transplant House,” added Eli Compton, Executive Director for the Transplant Foundation. “We hope that this annual event becomes a Florida golfing staple. It is great to see our supporters, community members, family and friends enjoy a full day of fun in the sun all while providing aid to those patients who need it most-transplant patients.”

Broward County Commissioner Ilene Lieberman was on-site as well as she was honored for her outstanding great work and civic engagement efforts done in collaboration with the Foundation’s mission.

A total of 98 golfers, in teams of four, competed for the winning title in over 18 holes as volunteers provided on-site refreshments throughout the day. Entrance fee for the tournament started at $200 per individual, which included a lunch and buffet dinner, a best ball scramble tournament and a hole-in-one prize from BMW. In addition, individuals had a chance to cast their bids in a live and silent auction, which included coveted sports memorabilia and exotic weekend getaways.

The winning team received $50 gift cards to Quarterdeck Seafood Neighborhood Grill and a trophy.

The Transplant Foundation would like to thank this year’s golf tournament committee for their extra effort--Paul Alterman, James Cohen, John Venezia, Jack Talabisco, Lori Hersey, County Commissioner Ilene Lieberman, Tamarac Mayor Beth Talabisco, Rob Posner, Armond Darcangelo, Marcy Weinberg, Larry and Cheryll Leiby, Scott Helms.
